Red Copepods?

All right, I'm not that naive. I was just checking out my Green Slimmer, which has been growing excellently, and saw that it had some red spots floating near it, almost as if attatched by little threads. There aren't any on the coral itself, but there are quite a few floating next to it. I don't think they're red bugs, because of their floating, but I have no idea what they are. They're the smallest life in my reef I've ever seen, and I'm barely able to see them. I wouldn't be surprised if there are more that are too small to see. Anyways, does anyone have any ideas as to what they can be? They're only on the Slimer, which, like everything else, is perfectly happy.

Thanks all!

I've seen the bottled up pods for sale at lfs and they were red. I've seen those multiple times and they were always .red lol

Yea I got some in my tank also. Hopefully there not red bugs.... I don't think they are because all my frags and colonies are doing great and all have PE.

I have triggers that do all kindsa stuff. One of which is make babies on strings. Monitor for dmg of course but prolly nothing to dip for.

I'm at 78-79. I had nothing in my tank that ate pods for a long time and I have thousands of pods. I just put a wrasse in last week and he's eating them like crazy.

Glenn at Advanced Aquatics thinks they're Red Bugs.

Unfortunately, I agree with him. Luckily, my dog has his annual visit to the vet this week, so I can get Interceptor in just a few days. I'm going to treat the entire tank, just to be safe. I'll put all of my hermits, snails, and shrimp in my Cu free QT, and I'll put my Sea Cucumber and Serpent Sea Star in my dad's tank. This'll suck, but it's better than all of my corals slowly dieing.

man if your not seeing any bad signs I wouldnt nuke your tank. did you bring them to glenn so he could see them him self or did you just say its a little red bug. im sure theres quite a few different red bugs in the ocean... do what u want but it will take forever to get intercepter out of your tank even if u can get it all out. I was debating doing it myself and I might before I switch to a new tank so I can remove my corals out of the intercepted water once im done. also ive heard 1800 pet meds is a lot cheaper than your local vet but you can always ask. your frags would also be the first to go so if there not covering them I wouldnt be to worried about it. maybe I just have nice ones that leave my sps alone or maybe there not the sps eating red bugs...

I would also find a magnified pic of one online and pull one out of your tank and put that under a microscope to compare it first. u can use a turkey baster to grab one. I would go through the trouble of doing that before I went on with the trouble of nuking my tank

I've still been unable to catch my peppermint, so before I launch all out blitzkrieg on his ***, I'd just like to post the best picture I can get to see if I can get a positive yes/no on them. Now, Glenn and I don't think they're red bugs, as they don't dart and the coral is still growing well. Still though....

I'll have a video up soon.

without being able to see that picture bigger its very hard, but it kind of looks like red bugs. by the way if no one has told you yet in a healthy system with good parameters the red bugs will do minimal damage.

Hmm... well that makes this a bit harder, this is as zoomed in as my camera gets. Either way, here's my video:
