Led fixture questions...

I think they would be fine. I just ordered a few fixtures similar to that from China. The ones I had before worked great and everything grew like weed! Plus, you would need 90degree optics for a 150 gallon so that's a plus that they come with them.

Since they are dimmable , do you need a controller? I have been looking at something similar, it seems like a good deal.

Go with 5 dimmable par 38 full spectrum, mount them evenly across the tank. you will be very happy with the results. I recommend 90 degree optics.

yea i like how they are full spectrum and not just white/blue.. im not sure if you can put these on a controller or not.. maybe someone else could chime in on that. I think i might buy these unless i can find them cheaper

Actually I don't have a controller so I wanted to see if I could do with out it.

If u can't control at least the blues and whites I do not recommend getting .. LEDs that give pop and color are blues .... I have blueline panel and bridgelux... 120w 3w led.. have excellent growth .. but sps in my opinion isant up to par with cheaper LEDs ... Cree LEDs on the other had I have seen super growth in the sps department...

i think i misunderstood your question... they have 2 dimmers for the 1.blue and 2.whites/color so you can change the color and control them.. but i though you were asking if i had a controller like a reefkeeper or something.. i plan on getting a controller and a couple people said that you have to do an easy mod to the lights to get them connected to an apex/reefekeeper. gotta bypass the potentiometer and it will work supposedly.

Steve.. buy LEDs.. lol ..

And u can get a few different panels with built in controllers

I know bro, I made up my mind of swapping over to LEDs , now just to pick thru the hundreds of choices out there , but like you told me before about the Cree LEDs , I'm going with these.

Hey guys, I just wanted to throw in my two cents here. You should take a look at my 120w panel fixture I offer.

Couple things to point out in regards to answering your questions.

1. First, my personal recommendation would be two of my fixtures over a 4ft tank and three over a 6ft tank, with 90 degree optics. You could grow anything you want under that.

2. As a PAR38 seller, I would not recommend par38s for a 120 or a 90. Unless money is not an object, because you would want probably 6 bulbs with 60 degree optics, to grow anything you want. 4 with 90s would cover, but would only be sufficient for softies, or lps up on rocks.

3. Be careful with "full spectrum" fixtures that just call the leds random color names, with no associated spectrums. CREE reds and greens for instance, are not the correct spectrums for coral growth. You want your greens to actually be cyan 495nm and reds to be deep red 660nm. Those specific spectrums are the peaks for photosynthesis in the specific colors of the spectrum. While cree is a great brand, I do not use cree in my fixtures because they are not the correct spectrum greens and reds, and do not offer true violet, which is a very important part of the spectrum.

4. My fixures are manually dimmable via two knobs, and come with a built in timer with LCD display that will control each channel (blues and violets/whites, reds, cyans) independently.

5. My fixtures are warrantied for 3 years, directly through me and my company, not a random ebay seller.

6. My regular price is $250 each, however if you order more than one, we can always work out some discount. PM me for more info.

If you have any other questions, please let me know. I always like to make sure my customers are well informed before making any decision regarding lighting.

thanks.

I think that you would be surprised. The Par 38's that I got from Prestige LED are 3 watt x 12 LED's in each bulb, the spread is great and so is the par. If you go with 5 of them, that is 180 watts of LED's and I think that should be enough especially with 90 degree optics.
