Seahorse tank

So I want to start a seahorse tank and was looking for opinions.. I like the new jbj 6 gallon all LED bio cube. Has anyone had experience with this model or with raising seahorses? Would this be big enough? Or is there a 12 gallon all LED? I'd also like to grow a few pieces of sps and some softies. Thanks!

I currently have a 14g biocube with seahorses and softies. I'm no seahorse expert, but I do think a 6g is a little small. One thing I have learned is that these things eat ALOT. I typically feed atleast 3 times per day.

Yeah, a 6 gallon may be to small. Another thing to consider is that seahorses don't like high flow or bright lighting, both of which you'll need to sustain sps corals. Soft corals would be more compatible with seahorses. The only seahorses that'll fit in a 6 gal would be dwarf seahorses, but they are so difficult to keep.

What kind of sea horses would you recommend? And what kind of tank set up? And what are you feeding yours Aaron? Sorry for all the questions but I'm trying to do my research before I take on another tank haha

I have Hippocampus Erectus. I feed them Mysis and Brine shrimp. As far as corals go, I have some Daisy polyps, zoas, mushrooms, a toadstool, gsp, xenia, and a sponge. Stay away from anything that packs a potent sting. As far as lighting, I have compact flourescent.

Talk to Saylorsreef, she's the seahorse expert here.

Her last post was in August and she hasn't logged into CR since 9/3. If you can't reach her there is a local gal on RC known as Peka. I've met her before and she also breeds horses and is an expert.

Yeah I spoke to peka but she won't have any for a few more months. I forget what kind she breeds though.

Sorry Ryan. No thread or pics at the moment. I will pm you some soon. A while back I posted pics of my other tank, and didn't get much in the way of comments. Figured why bother.

It's ok, I've posted tank thread and haven't gotten many comments but its nice to have them to refer back to sometimes. Looks like there's a good hand full here wanting to see :)
