pumping water from basement

You need to make sure it doesn't siphon back and flood your basement container.

I used to have my sump in my basement but decided it was more of a headache than it was worth because it made all of my stuff with metal parts rust out. I didn't notice the rust issue until it was too late. but if you have a covered system than that might not be an issue for you.

Check valve will fix that too. Wyre vale for $40 and then no backflow just in case it happens to siphon.

I do have this issue as well. My workshop has my tools and stuff in there with my grow-out system and a few of my tools have gotten light rust on them as a result, but once I noticed it I just did some oil wipedown and it is fine. I don't think it's more of an issue because it's a fishtank, it's just a gallon of water a day being pumped into the air down there. A check valve next to the sump would fix the backflow problem.

Were your feed goes into the dt drill a hole in the bottom of elbow and pump off will not siphon dt. You should plan to have room for the water in the feed pipe to fill sump to service pump or power outage. I would not count on check valve they leak back and cause resistance on feed pump to open flapper.

guitar amp, drum set, etc.

The problem is that my refugium had an open top and it seemed like it permeated the air down there. I never had a flood of saltwater down there. Saltwater never spilled on any of the gear so I am assuming it was the general humidity and possibly saltiness in the air.

Unfortunately I didn't see the rust because it was on the amps circuit board.... :(
