good lighting?

6000k will not work for reef tanks. The fixture listing you linked would be a better option but I will forewarn you the company that makes them has a reputation for causing electrical fires. I don't know if they have fixed those issues or not I just figured I would let you know.

the electrical fire thing is mostly hearsay and was related to an older style ballast, there is no risk with the newer style oddysea fixtures even though people like to bring up the one person that had a fire that had gotten the ballast wet and had it somewhere without good venting/airflow

Thanks for the info, if i was get get a new bulb for the MH unit what would be a good bulb, i would like to use the MH unit untill i could upgrade to nice T5 or Led unit. I just have the MH laying around. The 65 isnt up n running yet just wanted to use it to cycle the tank.

Well if ur just cycling a tank.. U dont really need to run any light.. Just save the money u would use on buying a new bulb on an led or t5 fixture

id def would go LED then with no chiller that tank would prob overheat a lot. If you plan on running MH most people have to use a chiller.

Found a guy who has a 36" 6 bulb ho T5 aquatic life system says its a year old wants $280 says he paid $500. Good deal? For my 65 gallon

Its a decent fixture find out what bulbs are in it and how old they are. Keep in mind 6 ATI bulbs at $20 each is $120 so now you're up to $400 and the bulbs will need replacing in another year so another $120 just get 2 coralcompulsions.com 120w led lights $500 ($250 a piece) and you're set for at least 5 years no bulbs to replace low energy consumption no need for a chiller and you could keep any coral you can imagine.

Would one 120 watt coral compulsions be ok to start with.

Technically you don't need any light to cycle your tank. You probably could start with one then purchase another one if you need to or just wait and buy both at once
