Missing Tusk

My 4" tusk is missing. No evidence of a body...anywhere. no carpet surfer, no body in the rocks, all other fish are acting normal. There isn't a way for a Fish to get in my returns.

I did find dead crab parts all over my sand this morning. Not standard hermit crab, but more like an emerald crab. It wasn't just molted parts. It was dead crab parts. I didn't even know I had crabs (s) like this in my tank. Is I possible that the tusk and crab had a battle and both lost? Where is the body?

I did a big tank cleaning yesterday, but didn't really change anything.

RIP Brian Williams (I think)

Nah crab would lose lol . I know there jumpers when starteled . Good luck i have two love em

Still missing and I've looked everywhere. I don't think there is a possible way he could have gotten into one ov the overflows. He is too big to fit between the glass tops and the top of the overflow.

I'm super sad about this because Im not the kind of person that buys and sells fish often. He was one of my favorites even though he was my newest fish (8 months or so). There were seriously crab parts all over Saturday morning. No idea. I had a small tusk about 5 year ago that got caught by a big hairy legged crab. At least that time a found a half eaten corpse.

I loving memory

Do you have any dead spots in your tank? If so look there. Check behind the tank, if it did jump. That is where I would find my jumpers.

How do you know he's not in your overflow? I would look there anyway

+1

I had a Clown fish get in my overflow and I didn't know he was in there for about 3-4months til I sold my tank and I was taking it apart and found him in the Overflow, and I was lucky because there was about 100 Brittle Worms or something like that and he didn't get eaten by them thats a miracle because he was just about 2".

Never knew how he got there because it was topped but some of the darnest things happen. I would definitely check in that Overflow honestly!!!

Good Luck

I've looked in the overflows even though I don't think it is possible for home to get in there. The gap between the top of the overflow and the glass tops is only 1/4 inch and his body is much fatter than that. If somehow be made it in there, he is now stuck in the return piping. I've spent a lot of time looking for him. He is not in the overflows, he is not on the ground behind the tank. He is not in the sump. He is nowhere to be found in the display tank. I've got a carpet nem, but it has been in my sump for a few weeks because my angels were picking at it.

Is there any furniture in the room your tank is in? I'm hoping he didn't jump out, but if so, check under furniture in the room. A fish that size can travel pretty far from the tank IMO. Had an oscar back in the day end up in the bathroom somehow, behind the toilet. It had to have traveled 20 yards and turned left. Go figure...

Just a thought but do u have a cat or dog? If so maybe it jump out n cat or dog moved it to play with it. Just throwing ideas out there.

Sounds like you might have something bad hiding in the rocks. Have you tried getting up in the middle of the night and looking in the tank with a flashlight?
