1" vinyl tubing won't fit ???

So the 125 I am setting up came with what I believe are the stock bulkhead/barbed hose adapter combos basically its just like a normal bulkhead but the barbes adapter is built in to the bulkhead so its all one piece. I tried to use 1" braided vinyl tubing from BRS and it won't fit over the barbed adapter. I tried heating with a blow dryer dipping it in hottttttt water. It still doesn't fit. Based on my measuring skills it seems the O.D. of the fitting is at least 1-1/8" would this mean I should be using 1-1/4" hose? I know a lot of people use pvc to plumb their tanks but there has to be someone else out there who has uses the stock bulkheads in the plumbing kit. Any help or tips would be great.

Okay thanks guys I didn't even think about that. Youre probably right ill just order new bulkheads. Will the stock drain and return standpipes fit into new bulkheads properly?

They should. My stock one was not one piece but does have a screw in barb and came with the flex hose stuff never had issues. But the stand pipes all the ones ivecseen r one inch just in case though bring tube with u when u buy lots of lfs carry bulj heads in stock
 
Thanks madman. Ill probably order them from the BRS group buy if they get 50lb boxes of fiji dry rock back in stock. Otherwise ill have to go to an lfs I won't pay shipping for a couple $5 parts. Lol.

I am exasperated with BRS when it comes to pipes and fittings. I had a barbed fitting, 3/4", and it measured 3/4" with my calipers, and ordered 3/4 vinyl tubing to match. They literally sent me pipe that had an inner diameter of 1". That was no mistake according to them. That 1" ID pipe, is 3/4" to them! When I called them they were very nice and polite about this point. They said, nicely, that I just did not understand pipe measurements and that I ordered the wrong size. They were very happy to replace for free, and that I should in the future let them match everything, fittings and pipe. They could not tell me the inner diameter or outer diameter dimensions of anything they sell. Well I already had the barbed fittings, I needed a pipe to fit that specific fitting. They were absolutely useless in this regard. Completely moronic system and I was angry that I wasted my time. I just went to home depot and got 3/4 ID tuning, better and cheaper, and BRS refunded the money for the pipe.

They are hard headed and unteachable. I asked them to teach me their system and they were not approachable.
