Bulbs from where?

So one of my bulbs went out today and I do have a backup that I need to replace it with. When I bought my fixture all bulbs were used even the backup. Now I need to consider looking into getting new bulbs. The one that went out is a 250w double ended bulb. I also have 65w pc bulbs (4) looking for ideas where to look and asking for opinions from your experience with a particular type. Thanks all!

For the PC bulbs I would get them from Foster and Smith. They have a good selection and delivery is fast and cheap to this area.

How do I know what to get? What's best? I seen some 250w de on eBay for 45$ for a pair then some are 80-100+ each.

For MH, a lot of people like Radium. Bulk Reef Supply is a good place for stuff like this. If you are on a budget, people say that Plusrite bulbs are pretty good.

I can't help with the MH bulbs; don't use them. I have used the Current brand for CF bulbs. They make a dual actinic bulb that seemed to work well for growth.

What's goes into being considered good? Color? Brightness? Growth?

All of those things. Usable brightness is measured in PAR and only your eyes can tell you if you like the look. People have reported good PAR figures and they seem to like the color of Plusrite bulbs.

Couple questions. When I end up getting new bulbs, should I lower the amount of hours the lights are on and gradually increase the time each day? Should I do that with both types of lighting? Pc and mh?

Other q is that some of the moon lights on my fixture are out. I'm not sure the brand of fixture it is but does anyone know where I can purchase these prices to replace?

Or would it be cheaper to just buy a blue led strip and mount it on the outer part of the fixture?

You could buy the led pods for yor reef keeper i think someone in indiana had them ask over there if thats the route you choose

I have always liked the 14K Phoenix Bulbs 250w DE.. They worked great and had good results! But might want to replace after 8 months IMO

You can also check this thread also for moonlights.. Just an idea

thanks, I looked at this thread and It looks pretty neat. How are they Doing for you?
If I end up going in that direction I will have to ask ya some tips on setting that up.

As far as the de bulbs, I might just get some lower cost bulbs for now and then one day check out those Phoenix ones. I've heard lots of people like those. I haven't looked them up and prices them yet but I think I heard those are higher cost ones

The bulbs are usually on sale for less than $50 if you look around. Google will be your best friend ;)

I regret selling this fixture as it kicked a$$.. The moonlights worked out great at night and worth the MOD IMO..

Don't be afraid to ask questions

global had those led replacements think i paid ten bucks for two but dont quote me i had to ask them if they had em. they were hidden

6,700°K White Daylight, 10,000°K Super Daylight, Actinic Blue 460nm, 420nm Actinic Blue, 420nm Actinic Blue/10,000°K White, Actinic Blue 460nm/10,000°K White these are the options at foster and smith. i am in need of four bulbs, what should i get? mix up four different ones? 2 and 2?
