It's been about 10 years since I tore my tank down for moving. I am finally getting it up and running again. I am always open to any suggestions. So far, the things that have been purchased that I have already received and/or are on their way are:

Custom Stand
Elite Aquatics M2 Sump

A custom Refugium and ATO tank and BRS ATO pump
2 radion g3pro and 2 mp40

BRS 2 part Doser
Sicce Syncra Silent 4.0 Return Pump
Durso Stand Pipe
Reef Octopus Regal 170 Internal
And about 100 lbs of dry rock from BRS

Looks good man! To bad you didn't see my radion for sale coulda saved ya 100$ easily looks like it's gonna be awesome and that sump is bad ass!

Looks like beginning of a great build. I love your sump. What kind of tank are you getting, custom, rimless? Aqua scape looks good, and I agree that you want to make right island a little higher then left. I would drill the rock and use acrylic rods to keep them together, to prevent rock slides.

The tank is my original acrylic tank - 60x18x24. When I started I was intent on using the same tank which now seems dumb to me. After all the other changes I should have just gone ahead and gotten a different tank with better dimensions. At this point everything will be new except the tank. Oh well - give's me a reason to upgrade in the future.

I tried drilling the rock and almost broke my drill tip off in it. I'm not so sure I was doing something wrong but I drilled and sawed a piece of it for about 45 minutes with no luck. The BRS video said I should be able to get through it with a hacksaw in about 45 seconds...45 minutes, 2 beers, and a lot of sweat later I had broken off a little nub. Lol

Wow, must be some kind of rock..., I drilled mine like in no time. Do you think 2 Radions will be enough for 60 in. tank? What corals are you going to keep?

I like the dimensions. I have a 60x18x26 tank currently setup but when I moved into an apartment I had to downsize to a 48x24x24. The extra depth is nice but I also like the added length of the 60in. The 60in tank is coming down soon (mom doesn't want to keep it up lol).

How high are the lights going to be off the water? 30in spread on radions, wouldn't they have to be pretty high off the water?

I'm starting with two Radions but might need three after all is said and done. I think the lenses will end up being about 10 inches off the water.

What type of drill bit are you using to drill the rock? I was going to get a cement drill bit but they guy at Home Depot said I would have no problem with a regular drill bit.

Regular drill bit will not drill rock. You need a masonry bit for sure.

I drilled all of mine with regular drill bit most if the live rock was sift calcium buld up and
y way drilled like butter .few harder spots but still worked fine

i have used both regular and masonary bit to drill rock , i will say rock drills easier when its been soaked , when i drilled my tonga branch this last time the difference was night and day .dry to soaked . also make sure not to push the bit alot of rock will crack as well.

This past weekends up date - added two new GFCI circuits to my fuse box and ran two new lines to two new outlets. And when I say I...I mean my electrician brother-in-law did everything while I drank a beer. The idea being that I will plug the skimmer and main return pump to one outlet and the circulation pumps to another outlet. Hopefully, if one get's tripped the other will keep functioning.

Speaking of pumps - what do you guys think of the Sicce Syncra 4.0 as my main return pump? It is rated approximately 900 gallons per hour. I have a single one inch overflow with a durso overflow which I understand can return 600 gallons per hour. My intent is to be able to T off the return line. Is that enough flow for that idea?

Most recent update -

The stand I was having built was not built properly so I had to return it...very frustrating as I was waiting three months for it. This has pushed me back on finishing the tank. The interesting thing now is that I can look at doing a different shaped tank if I want.

Things I have received recently - the Octopus Skimmer, an Apex controller gold package with breakout box and vortech module, and a custom made ATO box and refugium. Both were made by Peterson Brothers plastics and I am happy with how they turned out.

ATO tank. The top is a little messed up. The white rim is removable when it was actually supposed to be a whole white top. Easily fixed.

The refugium.

A possible setup including the sump:

The interesting thing is that now I could potentially put both ATO and Refugium on the long side of the Sump making the dimensions more square like for a different tank shape.

Any opinions on different tank shapes?

Ordered a custom 36" cube aquarium from coast to coast...I will be back posting updates when I start getting update pictures from them.
