28 gallon nano cube for FreshWater

So instead of getting onto a freshwater forum I thought I would ask you all your opinion.

My GF just picked up a 28 gallon nano cube and wants to use it as freshwater. It has 150w MH lighting so she might venture into live plants. Is there anything needed to make it work for Fresh Water? Can I just load the back with the same Filter media a canister filter would use?

id say go at it

and no you dont need anything else ..

make sure the mh is 14k or lesser as plants mostly use around 7k-8k lighting but would be fine with 14k Mh

Tank is gorgeous Tin! Would you recommend eco complete substrate? or if you could go back would you do something different?

What are you running in the back chambers?

Yea Eco complete it is .. I'd do it again if I had to

And nothing in the back chambers .. Just filter floss to polish water
