Hi everybody! My name is Tony, you may have noticed me popping up here and there. I’ve been poking around the forum for a few months now and thought I would share my build. I, like many, wanted a saltwater as child. Two years ago, I found myself always staring into and asking many questions about my reef friend’s tank. While I was staring into his 160 gal corner cylinder reef tank I thought about a time when I was a kid in a pet store wishing for a day where I could have a SW tank. The day I was wishing for day was soon to come. So I picked up a tank and stand off of CL and with lots of help from my friend I started cycling end of Nov. 2014.

With permission and support of my wonderful wife, I dove in head first on would say...

Equipment as of today..
Pan world 200PS return
BRS GFO and Carbon reactors plumbed independently
Jeabo doser
Octopus 150 Skimmer
Kessil A360W with simple their Controller

In July, I decided to make things easier and create a fish room/area in my basement. My friend gave me a 40g sump that he had laying around. I added some reactors and a panworld 200 external pump. Re purposed my old 20 gal cube sump for a refugium.

Back in March of this year, I was playing around on Autodesk one day and decided to design a simple frag rack…Couple of tool paths in some CAM software, 15min on the machine and boom… It turned out pretty well.. Although, as of today I’m just using some diffuser to make a larger rack on the fly…

It got me excited to build a frag tank.. had a piece of butcher block laying around for a stand top. So I waited for the 1$/gal sale and went to town. View attachment 17409View attachment 17410

After a little more rearranging and organizing heres the room/area as of today.

I had to make a custom hood to lift the light 12" above the waterline. Building was easy, matching the stain to the bottom was just terrible... lots of test mixing.. ugh.. terrible..

Love all the detailed pics and your setup. It's amazing how this hobby can start off as something small like a 46 and more into several tanks. :D

With that ....
Time to upgrade to a 7ft tank

Already ready on the books. I always knew I would be upgrading. I bought bigger on some things(planning for the future). Upgrading with little additional equipment is the idea..Wife and I are looking for a new house. "Where will the new tank go?" Is always one of the discussion points.. She's the best. Thinking 90-120gal

Thanks, lots of sleepless night. You said it. It has to start out small though.. to make sure you have the time and care to go bigger. Gotta crawl first and learn what not to do again..
