57 Oceanic Illuminata (work in progress)

Hey Gang,

As most of you know, the 90g came down yesterday for my move to Michigan. I picked up a 57g to make my move a little easier (less water transfer and peace of mind). So I figured I would start a little build thread on it, because it will eventually have more to it.

For now, it's pretty simple, I robbed my 90g of some parts and it is very primitive currently, but I still enjoyed setting it up. I really like the rimless tank (my first). I wont go to much into specs for the system (yet), because several components will change once I get settled in Battle Creek. I did drill the tank and ended up using 2 returns, which I drilled yesterday. I also painted the back with a few coats of black epoxy and set up my herbie style overflow. The fuge I picked up from AP at a great price (thanks Dave!), the skimmer [Reef Dynamics INS80] is from DAS212 (thanks Dave!!) I like buying stuff from dudes named Dave....

Most of my rock and some corals are in one of my 40g breeders that I had for QTing corals, the few sticks and stuff went in the new 57. I made a small frag rack and got things wet last night. I have some plans for the 57 as far as aqua-scaping, etc. so stay tuned ;)

The 90g is on the fence currently, I want to go larger in my new house, but I sure hate to get rid of the tech tank.... torn.....

So I guess I should add some pics..or it didn't happen, right?? (forgive me on the quality, all taken with my Galaxy S4... new camera was packed!!)

Doug you put together some really sharp looking tanks. I think you should teach a weekend class on reef tank plumbing lol! Happy to see this thread, good luck with your move.

Thanks all! Been a long day, tanks come down in the morning and head for their new home! I'll catch everyone on Thursday when my inet is back up and "hopefully" I'm getting settled in lol. Dave!! Plumbing is the easiest part!! ;)
