Im going to start cycling my 65g this weekend hopefully. And i want to create a stocking plan that i will follow when it comes time to start adding livestock. I want to have a plan to stick to so there are no impulse buys and hopefully no in tank quarrels. You will notice there are no Tangs listed in my stocking plan.:nono: If you can see an obvious conflict or if I am off on tank size requirements please let me know. If there is a better option instead of something on this list please also let me know what that might be and why. This is goingto be a mixed reef so i believe these are all reef safe options.

1 Regular Occelaris Clown Female
1 Black and White Occelaris Clown Male
1 Lawnmower Blenny or 1 Midas Blenny or 1 Starry Blenny(which is best in your opinion)
1 Purple Pseudochromis (Pseudochromis porphyreus)
1 Shrimp Goby with Pistol Shrimp (open for opinions on which Goby)
1 Melanarus Wrasse or 1 Yellow Coris Wrasse or 3 Flasher Wrasses or 3 Fairy Wrasses
1 Flame Angel

Invertabrates:
Skunk Cleaner Shrimp
Red Fromia Star
Sand Sifting Star
Tiger Sand Conch
Snails
Hermits
Porcelain Crab
Maxima Clam
BTA

Thank you all in advance i know ive been a pain lately.

For shrimp goby.. I would go with a yasha goby and a tiger or candy cane pistol shrimp.. The yasha is an awesome fish with great color and personality and the tiger or candy cane pistol will add also some nice color.. The only thing is u may not see them a lot since they do hide a lot.

Yes my wife has a Randall's Goby and a Candy Cane Pistol and they are not seen very often but when they are they are quite a site to see living together.

Your stocking plan looks great. Lots of beautiful choices.

From my research, I have learned:
Blennies require a diet heavy in algae. You will either need to wait until your rock can support the grazing or supplement its diet.
The pseudochromis is pretty aggressive and I would add this or the angel as your last fish.
I recommend a Wheeler's Goby. They tend to stay a little smaller in size which I think is important given your tank size.
In my opinion 3 wrasses for a 65 tank is a little ambitious.
The flame angel has been known to nip at LPS and SPS corals. I am not sure what, if any, corals you planned on keeping.
I would also hold off on the clam until your tank is established.

Good luck!

You could easily keep both a lawnmower and Midas in the same tank. Neither will be aggressive towards the other, both are quite peaceful, if not avoid confrontation altogether.

You make some good points. I will need my algae established before i can support the Blenny. My current pseudochromis is agressive idlike to move him to someone else the purple pseudo i used to have was sooo nice and docile until he ended up in the claws of my coral banded shrimp but yes it should be towards last to be added. Wheelers is a good choice i was also looking at a Randalls or another of the Amblyeleotris genus. I agree i think 3 Wrasses is a little much so i dont think i will do the flashers or fairys id really like a Melanarus or Yellow Coris if they are actually reef safe because ive heard yes and no for both. I do understand the risk with Dwarf Angels my wife has gotten lucky with her Potter's Angel and hopefully i will be as well. I do expect the angel to be last and king of the tank. Clams do need an established tank thats why i want to have this stocking plan ahead of time so i know what my goals and to avoid overstock especially too quickly.

I was unaware of this. That is a good thing considering i do have a lawnmower currently but was debating on whether to bring him along to the 65 when its ready.

If I forego the wrasses as an option what is one fish that would add color to my stocking plan and would be suitable for my 65gal setup?

I like the anthias but: 1. I believe a trio of anthias would require a larger tank than I can provide at this time and 2. I only feed my tank once per day max helps against over feeding and I believe the anthias need to be fed 3 times per day.

Mine get fed once a day.....on weekends when I am not too busy they MIGHT get a second meal...MIGHT. But my fuge provides non-stop food that they hunt down and devour...

I was worried about the feeding recomendations I read on LA as well, but I read through forums and most people only feed once or twice a day. Mine are good and fat, so they aren't missing meals.

Just cough up the big dough and get a healthy bourbonius anthias and a nice golden rhomboid wrasse, compliment with a pair of helfrichi firefish, and a nice blue spotted jawfish. Topped off with a nice ultra grade pair of Picasso Percs.
