I'm finally setting a display type setup. I add some live rock and sand last night. i decided to grow with some of the black indo sand. What do you think? Any one else use any of the black sands?

Looking good so far, I've used all black sand in my old seahorse tank, and really liked it. What are your plans with the setup?

Goat585 - I am in the process of building out almost the exact same set up for a leather coral dominated reef.
This was also my first time using Carib Seas indo sand but in the past week I have come to appreciate that diatom are not as noticeable as they are on white sand. I will post a few pics for reference.

My rock is 'live' but new (= no coraline algae), but the little bit of coarline that came over with the coral's rock really stand out.

So far I like the indo sand look, but did add a few bags of the all black version to darken it up a little more.

Good luck with your build - looks good so far. Good luck!

Here are a few pics (please excuse the unhappy toadstool. He is still getting over acclimating from T5s to LED.

I've used it in the past, hides a lot of detritus which could be good and bad.

Really makes fish and corals pop. I just went with white sand because it's easier to find.

It will still be a breeding tank for me. A divider will eventually go in there and 2 pairs of clownfish will be in there. I plan to load it up with BTAs. There is another 75 gallon tied to it as well. I will have 3 pairs in that one and more anemones

Your tank looks great. I love leather corals. It was a primary focus of mine when I had my reef tank running. I do like the black sand in there. I just wanted to try something different.
