So my tank has been running warm during day. I corrected this by opening the window and pointing a fan near tank. Solving my issue and lowering tank to 79ish. Yesterday it rocketed to 84 by noon. Last night I forgot the fan on and window open. My tank dropped to 74 this morning. I already put in a stronger heater, but wow! I hope everything is gonna servive this. Last time I was having issues like this I lost a few corals. An RKL would be nice right now. Yet I bought a $300 canister. Just sharing.

My tank use to hit 85 with MH and no issues.. Now with T5's can't reach 82  But I do have a heater to maintain at 78 at night to avoid the big swings.

84 isnt bad if it dips to 80 at night. A 9degree swing is bad. My 50w heater couldn't keep up on the one time I leave fan on.

I just read this....

Although corals exist both in temperate and tropical waters, shallow-water reefs form only in a zone extending from 30° N to 30° S of the equator. Tropical corals do not grow at depths of over 50 meters (160 ft). The optimum temperature for most coral reefs is 26–27 °C (79–81 °F), and few reefs exist in waters below 18 °C (64 °F).[22] However, reefs in the Persian Gulf have adapted to temperatures of 13 °C (55 °F) in winter and 38 °C (100 °F) in summer.[23]

Imagine a big rainstorm on a shallow reef. 9 degrees could happen there with the rain and current changes or run off. I think sudden is worse than large in temp swings.

Better than zoa measles. It's funny cause my pe polyps are pissed. Idk y. I havnt been testing, but I've been doing waterxhanges every week.
