This is tank #2 and I have no current plans for my 40b once I'm done with the upgrade, but I will save that for another day.

I bought a 93 gallon cube without the stand.. I am building my own because I do not trust them! Added some extra support to the floor below, just in case.. and here we go!

Check out the stand build...

Awesome... Love the Marineland cubes!!!

Me too, just can't get over the depth of the tank!

What sort if wood did you use for the stand?

I actually built the tank with studs (2x4's) and then added finished plywood (birch finish on the outside) and then added base board to the top and bottom to give it some dynamic detail. Doors are built but I am in the process of painting them right now.

Looks great! What do you plan on keeping in there?

Well currently I have the following:
Fish:
-Yellow Tang (small but needed the upgrade sooner than later)
-African Midas Blenny
-2 Midnight Clowns (soon to be mated pair?! hopefully)
-Purple Fire Fish
-Watchman Goby

Corals
-Waving Hand Xenia (maybe not the correct name for it. I will post pics soon)
-A lot of different types of Zoanthids
-Long Tenticle Mushrooms (8)
-Frogspawn
-Birds Nest
-Kenya

And a lot of different snails, hermits, shrimps, and a lobster.

I would like to keep more SPS and LPS corals going forward, but no exact plans yet.

That's pretty much how I build my stands. The studs always throw everything off though, not by much usually, but enough to notice. I really want to build a nice stand when I'm able to build my dream tank, just trying to figure out what to make it out of. Thanks

If u go to lumber yard u can get premium wood that isn't warped or twisted. Menards and hd gets all the crap wood but if u want a nice straight stand pay the extra for premium wood.

Yep this is what I did for the last stand I built. Honestly it's not really even that much more overall for the better lumber.

I bought mine from HD but I had to be very selective.. One thing to do is build your stud frame as square as possible but make up for any imperfections with how you put the finish board on the outside. Trim makes the furniture pop and hides any small imperfections :first:

Alright, the tank has really cleared up so I have some better pics of the rock aquascape. I used SouthSea's base rock from a company called CaribSea. After doing some research people have stated that dead reef rock can still cause a crash so I am waiting a week to ensure I do not see any spike in Ammonia, Nitrates, or Nitrites. If the levels are undetectable I feel safe to transfer tanks.. Any opinions out there?

Tank looks great...I also start with 2x4's sometimes but I run two sides thru my jointer and cut one side on the table saw and plane the 4th side. PIA but they are perfectly sguare and all the same. You would be suprised how nice some of the pine looks when planed. I do prefer lumber yard wood as the quality is far superior.

93 gallon is on hold waiting for the 180 gallon in the basement to go up. Custom stand to be built with a bar top to match! Pictures on the build to come soon. Painting and laying carpet the next two weeks..
