A couple hands needed in Naperville

My new tank will be arriving next week, likely Wed. Will move it on any day after it arrives. I'll have it loaded onto my neighbors truck but will need some help getting it into the house. It's a 7 footer and weighs about 700 lbs. I'm tracking down some moving straps and suction cups now. If anyone's willing and able to help get it into the house and on the stand next week I'd be extremely grateful. Will throw in a 6 pack or two as well.

Thanks
John

I'd be happy to help, beers not necessary. If you pm me the address & time when you're ready for the move I'll try to get there as close to then as possible. I'm in Downers Grove, shouldn't take me long. I do pick my daughter up from school weekdays at three, otherwise should be no problem.

This is great, thank you! I need to coordinate with my neighbors, who will be also helping, on the day/time options. The depot where the tank will get loaded is in Oswego and not open on Saturday. I'll see if we can get it on the truck Friday then move it then or on Saturday. Otherwise this will need to be on Wed or Thurs. I'll PM you the details. Either of you have experience moving a tank this size before? I've moved shorter, and have been reading up on how to move something this big. I'll be as prepared as possible, but open to any advice.

Really you wanna do everything with the glass suction handles and it should be fine. If you had the wheel dolleys that would work in the house provided the floor is a smooth surface to roll on.

Though I've never moved a tank that big I have some moving experience.
If you're done measuring it's all up to the muscle.

All done measuring. I've been doing as much advance plumbing as possible the past week. I think I'm going to have the tank shipped directly to my house. That way we won't have to lift it off the truck, then down to the ground. Will find some wheel dollys and masonite. I have hardwood floors, but don't want to mess them up. I'll have some suction cups as well. Should have the delivery date tomorrow.

Laying down cardboard then plywood will protect the floors.

Good idea, I have that laying around. Cheaper than masonite.

I might be able to help, let me know when and where.

Excellent, thank you! I'll PM you three. I've asked for a next Thursday 2/18 delivery to my house. They'll put it on my driveway. I also talked to AAA Prisma glass and they'll let me borrow 4 suction cup holders. I think I'll buy 2 as well just in case.

Gents, after talking with the structural engineer and my wife, we've decided to move the tank into the basement. Since the basement's finished a column to support the floor above would be more effort than it is worth. As the tank needs to get into the basement I'm going to hire some movers to do it. I really appreciate the support and if you ever need help yourselves don't hesitate to ask. I'll PM you guys as well. Thanks.
