Acan placement

Im just wondering where people place Acans in their tank. I've had a couple frags for about a year that just don't do very well in my tank. At times the frags will look totally dead and then all of a sudden they make a comeback. I love the way these things look but I just can't get them to grow.

It will help the experts to know what type of lightning is used ;)

I guess that would help. I've had them in my 12 gal nano dx under the pcs and in my 125 under halides. I thought the frag was dead again and then all of a sudden I see 4 heads on it today.

I can't really put anything in the stand because my stupid maroon clown will bury it. Sometimes I wish that thing would just go belly up.

Ya that might be a little problem.

I had mine on the rock before but they didn't like it

and my clowns throw some sand on it but come

nowhere near burying it though. But my acans have

been very happy since I put them in the sand.

I think it can vary. I have acans in saNd bed under 250w de mh. I have some 1/3 to 1/2 way up and those are also doing good. Those ones are in little higher flow rate. I've been lucky that where they get put they do ok.

You could try to feed each head some mysis. Its not necessary but bit will get them growing much faster.

Hey. Acans love lower par. 100, but some do like it a little higher. The one thing that MH will do to them is wash them out. U will lose ur rainbow type colors and mostly become reds and what not. Shaded areas are best. U can spot feed mysis, fauna pellets, fauna marine. My frag tank is 70% acans.... And my par is 75-125 usually. I give them one hour per day at like 165 for growth. High par will help them grow but lose colors usually.

+1, I found this out the hard way, although it took a while. I lost my rainbow colors on 2 of my favorites thinking they needed more light because they weren't "puffed" up. Turns out ....just too much light
