View attachment 10930I bought an acan from a great lfs about a month ago. My tank has been up for over a year. All my corals lps/softies are doing well but this guy just wont open. My dkh is 8 cal 435 mag 1320 temp is 78 and salinity is 1.025
coral pro salt 75 gal with dual 150w MH and actinic pc supplement. I've moved him into the shade low flow ive fed him and he just wont budge?

Ur water is prob too clean. Everyone always asks me why my acans are super super puffy... I don't do any water changes on my frag tank. Only change is when I sell things and pull water out and add new water...but that's nothing in comparison to a normal WC....

Also my alk is like 8-9 an I use RC salt.

jeorge man those acans r sweet . right abot water being to clean acans hate it . ive noticed flow has lot to do with there puffyness though . just my experiance if there was not enough flow they stayed flat but out too much they shrunk and hid just right they looked like ones in jeorges pic

yeah my 90 had 80+ different acans in it. Cubbies can varify. They like flow but gentle flow. Wavebox IMO are the best when keeping an acan dominated tank. if they have little flow they arent happy and too much and they really hate it. they want to wave slowly in the flow. also water cant be too clean. which is hard with sps in the same tank. my tank now is sps dom and i had picked up 4 acans and one started doing bad. too much flow and too clean. immidetaly gave them to a friend and they came right back. they are a tough coral too kepp IMO. sensitive. and sometimes they just start doing shitty for no reason. honestly they drive me nuts. i hate and love them at the same time. i will get some again sometime just not anytime soon. stay away from them!! haha jk just dont be surprised if they do good in a tank you buy them from and and crappy when you get them home.
