Advice for frags

Ok so I haven't secured my frags in any way. They just sit on the plugs in the tank. I've watched a snail bump one over.

I have the superglue gel and the putty. Should I secure the plug? Or remove the frag from the plug?

Which do you prefer?

Glue or putty?

Plug or no plug?
 
I use putty and a glue together. Make a "sandwich", place some glue on a plug, than putty on top of that and than glue on the bottom side where it will be attached to rock. Works great and fast. As far as using plugs, it all depends where frag is placed. If I can find a hole that most of the plug will fit in it, I just leave it. Otherwise I like to take frags of the plug and mount them directly on the rock.
 
I personally don't like the inorganic shape/color of plugs so I pop the frags off and use plenty of super glue gel. Never had one break free yet. I use the putty for rock work and such.
 
I usually just leave them on the plug and mold with putty insert glue than place plug in and than mold it to rock

Thanks for the tip! I am a little worried about cutting corals. I'm hoping to get a crash course before I do so.

Side note, most my rock are large pieces that can't be taken out. Is your method ok to use in water? As in glue, putty, glue... Dunk in water and secure to rock?
 
I take the plug out of water, make "sandwich" and than just push it it to the rock where is supposed to be.I do this under water,my rock are cemented together so I can't take them out anyway. Hold for about 10 sec. and should be all good. I turn off my powerheads for few minutes when I do this to give the glue few minutes to harden. I use less glue between frag and putty and more glue between putty and rock. Hope this explains your question. Do not do too many frags at once with putty as your skimmer will go crazy.
 
Those I just cut the narrow base off the plug with bone cutters and glue in place on the plug. If they're already encrusting the plug won't be visible much longer anyway (hopefully).
