Affixing coral to live rock

Aside from cyanoacrylate, what is the best method for affixing sps to live rock, inside of the tank? Any advice would be appreciated. I have had terrible luck with sps, in the past, probably because I would just find a hole in the live rock to cram it into, without securing it properly. My tank is a little over 3 years old, and after seeing and really appreciating BigKevs, ORA Joe and his sps dominated tank, I think I am ready to give sps another try. Thanks in advance.

P.S. Anyone have any cheap sps frags for sale in the Naperville/Plainfield area?

I use dollar store superglue, but it has to be the gel. You have to use like 3 times more than you think wise. Glob it on, put the frag in place and then remove and replace it like 4 times to get the glue interacting with the rock surface (like try to paint with the frag base a little) and then press and hold the frag in place for 15-20 seconds (or longer). Bam, never fall frag. The thin stuff never works and if you don't use enough a snail with bulldoze it. JB weld and other two part epoxy putties/gels are great too, but they can have wanings that say "no potable water systems" which make me nervous. They also sometimes make your skimmer go nuts. Try the cyano again, but skip the expensive coral branded stuff and try the cheapo (HAS to be gel). It's usually in a tanish foil package with a green lid and comes 2 to a pack (can't beat .50). Let us know what you try.

Yupp. I use super gel glue too. There are two different ways they sell them but in the end you get the same amount. One bag has two tubes and one has three. In the end, the bag with the two tubes has the same amount of glue as the bag with the three tubes. It's a square packaging and the stuff you're looking for has a green label, unlike the other products that have a red and blue label. Don't use the ones with the red or blue label, stick to the green stuff. I usually go out and make sure I have about 5-10 In stock. Dollar tree sells them for $1 and menards has an occasional sale for .75 each every now and then.

I typically use a two part epoxy putty. Just knead it until it turns white and you're ready to use it. A little goes a long way.

Kind of expensive at pet shops but if you can find it at Petsmart, it's only $8.
