I have a 150 main setup with a 150 gallon sump and 150 frag tank all set up running on one system. This has been set up for months and all of a sudden I have an algae outbreak in my frag tank. I have done several water changes every other day but it doesnt seem to be helping. There are several air bubbles around my frags and I can see the algae growth starting. Its not bad right now, but I want to know how I can get rid of it before this starts killing my coral. Any suggestions would be great!!! Thank you!

Have you tried a "blackout" of the frag tank? it is intersting that onloy the frag tank has algae. Since it is only 1 of 3 tanks that are connected, it makes me wonder why it is happening in one tank and not the other two. Sometimes algae can be accelerated by old bulbs that start to give off more of a yellow color. What's your lighting situation? Also, what are nitrates and especially phosphates at ?

I had the same issue with hair algae. I moved my coral to a buddies tank (only had a few frags) and did the blackout. Worked great

It's still weird that it is only happening in 1 of 3 tanks that are connected using the same water.

Do you have live rock in your frag tank? I've had rocks that have been in water for months all of sudden start leaching stuff.
