Am I being impatient or is my cycle slow to start?

I've had a lot of aquariums since I was a kid. About 10 days ago I started my first nano reef. I've been testing parameters daily and have yet to see nitrates/ammonia start to rise. Yesterday I did a phantom feeding of some mysis shrimp.

I thought the Microbacter7 and small live rock would help jump start the process a bit. Am I being impatient or am I doing something wrong? Using API Reef Master test kit.

Nano Specs:
13.5 Fluval Evo
CaribSea Live Sand
12lbs dry rock
1lb live rock to seed
Sicce Voyager Nano

Thanks for the help! I'm really excited about this tank!

The cycle does take some time. What size is your tank? Was it just one small piece of LR to help start the cycle? A cup of LS would also help start the cycling process.

I guess that's why I was confused because I used live sand, Microbacter7 & a piece of live rock to seed. I'm in no rush, just thought I'd see some numbers by now.

Thanks for the help!

Sorry I should have read your first post more carefully. With what you started with you might not see much of a cycle. There might be just a slight rise in the nitrites that is quickly converted by your/LS/LR/Microbacter combo. I guess you could try a larger portion of mysis and see if it gives you a bump in your test results.

Your being impatience don't rush it once you see green algae on the glass your good to go. If you rush things you won't last long in this hobby

I would wait as others have suggested, but it's possible you won't see a cycle due to the live sand and live rock.

Dose ammonia anyways.. watch it cycle.. Then you've cycled. If its slow going; I would buy some denitrifying bacteria.
