Am I heavy stocked

OK I am deciding which skimmer to buy when my buddy picks up my SWC160. It was just time to upgrade.

I have a 75gal with about 100lbs LR.

1 yellow tang about 3"
1 red sea tang about 3"
5 chromis about 1-1.5"
4 clowns about 1.5"
1 firefish about 2"

I want to add a green mandarin and a wrasse of some kind. had a six line that jumped

also on the system is a 40B with a lot of LR, and

1 2" queen angel, will be gone when too big for tank. she is small and has plenty of lr and swiming room

then a 55 gal sump 1/3 is a full to the top with a fuge LR/cheato the rest is about hald full due to baffles

what skimmer does everyone reccomend also am I ok to add the two fish to the 75 or is it too much also want to put a small puffer or small trigger in with the angel. this will be just a tank for fun for the wife to get small non reef safe fish that we can donate to my friend with a 210 ro 240 its big.

I also feed a good amount prime reef flake 2-3 times daily good pellet food 1 daily and frowzen 2 a week.

the larger fish arent forever. they will go to my buddy. he alwasy takes are fish in. he has a 210 aga and a 240 acrylic. so im not worried about that. probably just keep the tangs til they are about 4" then give them to him.

There is nothing wrong with keeping fish that are small, and will eventually outgrow your tank, as long as you do the right thing when they start to show signs of stress.

I think that one tang would be better than two. thin out your clowns to a pair and three cromis. Than you have room for a couple different fishes. Maybe no cromis even, and you could get some more cool fish. The queen angel will make a nice trade in when its ready.

I dont think a bunch of chromis would be a problem. They are small fishes that maybe poop as much as a hermit crab or a snail. I have about 11 small fishes in my 120g, the biggest fish is about 2-3" which is a blue tang. I'm thinking of getting 3 more to increase my bioload. Why? I need the extra nutrients for my sps/lps to color up. I've added 4 fishy a few weeks back along with heavy feeding and dry skimming. GFO offline. Now my corals are coloring up nicely. I've never been so happy detecting some NO3 and PO4's. I know its weird , almost everyone is trying to target Zero for everything. But then again, every system is different. Mine just likes it this way.

Just wait buddy, chromis dont get huge, but they get bigger than what you buy them at figure a bit over 3". Dory, she gonna be a foot long and makin some good turds from the greens she should be eatin.

haha yeah i kinda like the chormis ill never catch them. I plan on moving two of the clowns to the 40B. I got the black pair from a buddy. they are easy at night they just sit at the top. i got the queen for 75$. im glad everyone is keeping small tangs in not so big tanks lets be honest we all do it some people just call the tang police too much. mine have plenty of room.

So does everyone think i have more room for a couple more fish if i move the two clowns to the 40b?

I have a 75G FOWLR w/ 100lbs of rock too and I'm also running the SWC160. Zero nitrates & phosphate. Here's my stock list...

3" Powder Blue Tang
4" Regal Angel
2" Flame Angel
3" Auriga Butterfly
3" Saddleback Butterfly
2" Pearlscale Butterfly
4" Harlequin Tusk
3" Papuan Toby Puffer
5" Foxface
2X Talbot's Damselfish

You sure you need a new skimmer? As long as you can manage the nutrient export then I'd say you have room for more fish :thumb:

I likey likey!

definitly can add more might need more cleanings but if u r willing who cares stock away . and dont worry about fish getting to big most do worry about it when time comes . if u listen to some people on here u will end up with a 100 gallon tank 2500 dollar lights 400 dollar skimmer a apex controller and your stock would include a firefish and hermit crab and they still say u over stocked hell half people on here that do the complaining kill more fish in a month then i have in my tanks. so if u fish r fat healthy not fighting whos to tell u what u can buy or not buy . i heavily stock my tanks and keep up the maintance both look great reef is 75 fish only is 90 the fish only has 2 over two foot eels big angel big corris wrasse atlantic blue tang scotts fairy wrasse and bunch more and no problems

Thanks. I'm going to trap the foxfaxe and the powder blue and replace them with a Pakistani Butterfly and 2 Heniochus.

Alright guys. I guess I'll tell my bud no go on the skimmer. It does a great job. Just wanted a new one. No reason. Just this one is getting old. I agree some people have all this stuff and their tanks Suck. I have only lost a six line who jumped out. I just added the two tangs I haven't added anything in months so I got them. I'm looking to add another wrasse. Maybe some more small fish. I have a gfo reactor brs and it will do what I have now 150gal or two cups of gfo. The skimmer says 90 gal heavy stocked. But what does that even mean. I don't feel like I'm heavy. With the 40b it will have three fish the queen angel a small puffer when I find one and a small trigger when I find it. Then the 55 is the sump which I have crammed as much filtration as possible then the 75 I listed. I think that's moderate. An others are rreally stocked with that swc 160. I think I'm gonna be ok.Is there any thing else I can do to help out the skimmer. Except a bio pellet reactor. I have the fuge. Here's a pic of my sump.

I wanna see this tank. So wanna have a fowlr

Thank everyone. I love love having the space. But my dt is in our master bedroom. And the filtration is on the other side of the wall. It's in the basement. It was supposed to be my man room but it turned out so nice she painted it and took over. So I said I'm putting my tank in there. It's a big room with a living room and a bedroom init. So its in the living room part bext to the tv. Hard to watch tv honestly. But having all that room is sweet. I can add a anothanother tank if i want too. I have so much room. I hope I can always do it like this
