haha - Had a great time on Saturday Chatting with Nate and having Pedro do some 'showing off' (Detection Searches no shown)

Disclaimer: K9 Pedro is a Certified Duel-Purpose K-9, all training exercises are completed with the decoy/volunteer's safety in mind. Please do not attempt to aggravate K9 Pedro, while he is an extremely friendly working dog, he is also highly trained and does not understand 'just playing around'... Plus it's illegal to agitate a service animal.

Many of you have met K9 Pedro and have only seen his 'playful side' ... some have also seen his 'Detection side'... Here is just a glimpse of his "Patrol Side" :)
 
I should also point out that Dan did this as a training excercise for pedro and a demonstration for me. My smile in the video is one of excitement and joy in a new (and very intense) experience, but Dan gave me very clear instructions and I really do have a ton of experience with dogs. I can definitely say that I NEVER want to be involved with a K9 in ANY other way. Pedro is a sweetheart, but he takes his job very seriously (and I do too). I'm just glad that Dan and Pedro are out there looking out for me instead of looking FOR me :) But if you ever loose a gun (or a sinlge 9mm round) in the middle of a field, you might want to PM Dan.
 
Nothing like having the handler give the release word and seeing 100+ lbs of muscle and teeth running full speed at you. Beautiful dog by the way.

definitely. I think Pedro is about 70lbs, but that is plenty. I weigh 190 and you can see the impact on me even though I anticipated in and turned with it. It was only when he actually started bolting toward me that i started questioning the structural integrity of the gladiator armor that Dan put on me. Fortunately, those things are designed by people who get bit by dogs a lot intentionally. . .

I was plentty incapacitated with his tugging and pulling. I can't imagine how much worse it would be with actual bone crushing and skin tearing being involved.

There is nothing more hilarious on earth that the woosh and ping of the expansion chamber going off in someones face when they think they have flooded it and are looking right at the ignition contact to see if it is still sparking. PLEASE tell me that is what you are talking about. Just the "I know that was funny and I want to laugh but I'm a little concerned I might be dead or on fire, and do I still have eyebrows?" look on their face. Oh man, I'm cryin' right now. I literally watched two guys do that basically back to back. The second guy clearly saw the first guy do it too (made it almost deadly funny)
 
No he attempted to load the potato while the end cap with the trigger was still on. He placed the gun on the floor pushed the potato (which clicked the ignition) and it went off.

Yes my bday party involved explosives and potato guns. U missed out lol. O and a bb gun trying to take out the light behind my house. That didn't work which is why we brought out the potato gun.

yikes, did he get hurt? If my cannon hit someone at close range there would be issues. I would still laugh heartily once I established airway, breathing and circulation were OK, but the recipient of the potato probably wouldn't think it was very funny.

Oh good, then I'm back to full on belly laugh. I think I watched too much Tom and Jerry as a kid. I bet that gave you a nice moment of clarity. . .
