Anyone running sea swirl?

I'm in the process of a 120 reef ready build. I acquired a tank that the previous owner removed one of the two monster overflows and used the holes as a small closed loop system. I was thinking of capping the two holes and putting two durso overflows on the remaining overflow(I like the extra space of the removed overflow). One durso could be the main and the other an emergency perhaps. I only plan on running 400-500 gph through my sump. I have to mp40's for the rest of my flow. But back to my original thought, I was wondering if the sea swirl would be worth my while. It's not a ton of flow but I like the idea of the oscillation. When facing the tank the left overflow has been removed so water would go through the overflow on the right and I can put the return on the left pushing the surface stuff towards the overflow. Any experiences on this or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Oops almost forgot. I plan on doing a mixed reef some sps maybe more as I progress. Thanks in advance

I have 2 seaswirls on my tank, and they do a nice job of providing a little more random flow. They certainly don't take the place of a pump, but are a nice little extra. The oscillating arm inside the seaswirl requires maintainence though, and needs to be cleaned and greased to keep it moving. I think that is the the largest negative for me. On a small tank, the box might also be unattractive as it's fairly big.

Thanks for the replies. I was thinking I can increase my flow a bit. I have the eshopps s-150 skimmer which has the sicce psk600 on it flowing just over 600gph. I'll have a refugium but I haven't decided if it will be part of the sump or a separate tank. Regardless it will be fed off of the return so I can dial down the flow. I have the jeboa dc 9000 pump that I can control with my apex. So I can flow it all the way down to 30% if I want. I plan on running a manifold off the return for my reactors and refugium.

The 1" durso is rated for 600gph so if I do that I'm getting a bit more flow and not exceeding my skimmer. I'm sure I'll change a hundred things by the time I start setting up. I've been acquiring gear for about the last year. My original tank was going to be 40 gallons lol.
