The sale started today and goes for a little more than a week.

Livestock 40% off :woohoo: However, inverts are still ridiculously overpriced, even with the 40% off.

Food, including frozen 50% off $12.50 for Rod's :yippee:

Did you by any chance see if they have any fluval evo 12 in stock? I called but the guy sounded like he doesn't know anything about anything.

No, I am sorry, I didn't notice. However, they did receive a huge delivery of dry goods while I was there and I did see a bunch of canister filters in the delivery, I just didn't notice the brands or models. This was Bolingbrook. ninjamyst

I used to shop at Aquarium Adventure as my primary LFS when I was first starting since it is like a 10 minute drive from my parents. I discovered when they have their sales, they artificially increase the prices of their livestock so after the 40% off, it ends up being not a whole lot cheaper than their normal prices.

I remember seeing Discus at $60, or $51 for fish club members. On the 40% off sales, the "original" price would become $75, so the sale price is $45. Sure it was cheaper, but it wasn't as amazing as they made it out to be.

Every now and then though you would find decent deals.

Karl,

You are ABSOLUTELY right about that, and on corals and inverts the prices were just silly. But the fish prices were fair.

I picked up: a Strawberry pseudochromis for $10.79
a Sixline wrasse for $17.99.
and a Royal gramma for $ $17.99 (and it is huge!!!)

Went to Hoffman Estates one today. Got the new Fluval Evo 12 for $160. They say it's a sale price but I thought that's the retail. They probably just jack up price on stuff and say it's a sale. The frozen food WAS on sale. 50% off. Got some mysis.

And holy crap their coral prices are ridiculous. They have xenia for $99!!! WTF. lol.

Im going to the hoffman estates one for frozen as well as pellets as im going to dump all my current food and start over on diets

Even at 40% off, their coral prices are crazy high, its almost funny. I didn't see any coral that was unique or rare and the prices are just stupid.
You might get a reasonable deal if you look through their fish.

I travel to all the stores but this is definitely not the hot. with these sales I'd only buy equipment rather then live stock

Well. Got 80 dollars worth of frozen and dried food for 35 bucks.
Cant complain. As far as fish. Triggerdood. They have that large queen trigger you were interested in.
I asked if it was also 40off im sure the price can be negotiated.
Its the hoffman estates location. If your interested in going there for the queen. Call ahead and ask if the guy in charche of all the fish including the queen triggerfish is in. Or when he will be in as you were reffered there by a friend who asked about the queen being for sale with the 40 off
