im in the same boat, i figured i can always add sand later, its harder to take it out than put it in, lol

Add a thin layer of sand to look more natural otherwise it just looks too sterile or fake imho

Hey Mike, not sure if you have a build thread I missed, but how did you do your large rock in the tank? Very nice looking.

How u balancing that tall rock ? Id be affraid it fall and crack the tank especially without sand. Please put sand it will brighten things up lol. Jmo i hate the bare bottom look. Only bare bottom i like is a womens

I didn't make a build thread what will be done in few days. As far as balancing the rock, it's pukani so i just took a hacksaw to one side and cut it flat.

I vote thin later of sand. I'd also be scared about that rock tippin , is there any way you can secure it? Maybe putting a big of epoxy between rock and glass, idk just a thought .

Hmm maybe ill use eggcrate under the rixk

Bare bottom gets my vote! MUCH easier to keep levels in check

Just use epoxy to keep them together or zip ties. Easy fix

They are epoxied and I used acrylic rod to keep it together

Ahhh, that is what i was trying to get at. So you basically have a few rocks epoxied together with a rod through them, then you cut the base to give a flatter, stable surface? Hard to tell from the photo, but looks great!
