Are there any products you wouldn't buy again?

I have been reading a lot of threads lately asking about equipment and was just curious if anybody was less than pleased with a certain product and would do it differently if you had the chance.

Most of my complaints have been more around bang for the buck purchases and I'm just not sure if I could have got 99% of the performance for 50% of the money.

I'll start with the Alpha 170 skimmer. It's nice, I like the self cleaning cup, but other than the fact the pump is amazing I don't feel the skimmer outperforms substantially cheaper ones I've used.

I don't think I would get a skimmer for a twenty gallon or smaller tank. I've got a hob refugium, and brs reactor, with weekly water changes, works great.

Hanna phosphate checker . Any miracle cure for ich tryed em all . Only one that works is metro and focus mixture . Quiet one pumps they suck marineland skimmers. Bunch of other chit

Anything marineland. Cheap t5 bulbs. Any thing miricle ..whatever... all junk. Ats junk. maidia junk.

The recent one that comes to mind is anything from Santa Monica filtration, like their algea scrubbers. Another that caused great pain is reeflo. I love their dart and other known pumps but I've treid two of the new to market products and got shafted on both.

I had one of the original Reeflo/Orca skimmers, it was flawless at the time. That's unfortunate to hear the company has gone that way.

I still run one :D Reeflo Orca 200 with the dart pin wheel pump recirc pump on it. Love the thing. When I trialed their blowhole pumps, wow what a bad expereince. I then recently tried their yellowtail, again failure.

Should build a 10 gallon tank with all three see which one ends up taking the tank over

I had the same skimmer, I wish I still had it. I almost went with one of their new pumps, chose the Ecotech L1, which has been a great pump, quite, efficient, and pushes a bunch of water even up to a second floor.

Haha good morning fellow reefers. Where to begin with crappy products? Well I'll start off with the marineland visitherm heaters. Complete garbage, even the newer design they came out with last year. Gone thru a dozen of the 400 watters. The only good thing is the free replacement lifetime guarantee. Will not use again in any of my reef tanks. They don't last more than a couple of months until moisture gets in them. I am also not to pleased with the hannah phosphate checker. Not reliable imo. And the maxspect gyre xf130. I've been using it for less than two months and the power supply already went bad. Not impressed with the gyre.

I'd be interested to know more about the ATS and the story behind that being on the list.
