Yes sometime is too long for corals on top. My camera is full frame. If your camera is AF-C then 100mm x 1.5 (or 1.6) it's long

That why, your Len 100mm x 1.6 = 160mm, too long for near subjects. My camera is full frame so 60mm still 60mm, 100mm still 100mm
