BC Growout - Update Thread

The time has come! Frags will be available for pickup Saturday 1/30 after noon!

Since we only have two participants for the BC Honeycomb, we have included them in the same growout thread for the PC Rainbow.

1) First Check-in, post a picture of your frag and ruler in your tank (ruler in the tank next to the frag.) Also include some basic specs on your system specs; tank size, filtration, lighting, flow, feeding/dosing schedules, etc.
2) Monthly Check-ins with pictures, measurement and a brief update on any changes (growth, color, PE). This is to include any system changes as well. Updated parameters are recommended but since this is for fun, not required.
3) We will post a separate thread that includes a poll for how long the grow out competition should go for. 6 months - July 30th
4) The winner will be picked in a separate thread, a vote by the whole community on Growth and Color (Only white balance adjustments made on the camera and filter over camera phone lense allowed. No changes made in any computer software are Allowed.) Submitting you best Side and Top Down shots, if possible.
5) The thread should only be used for updates. Conversations, smack talk, and other comments about the size of the ruler should happen here (http://www.chicagoreefs.com/forums/s...petition/page1)

The main goal is to have fun, but also be able to look back on this and see what different techniques, equipment, parameters do to the growth and color of the frags.

Frag #10

System Specs:
Tank - 60 gallon Shallow Reef (12" tall)
Lighting - 6x54" Tek T5HO (front to back.. Actinic, Blue+, Purple+, Blue+, E5 Blue Pop, Coral+)
Dosing - AcroPower daily while lights are on, 2-Part Alk/Calc while main light is off (Alk 7.96-8.26 and calcium 400-410)
Stability - ATO and Temp maintained by an Apex. Run at 1.026 and 78 degrees.
Flow - 2x MP40 and 1xMP10
Filtration - LR, Skimmer, and filter sock replaced weekly or sooner if required
Feeding - I'm a generous feeder to my fish. Probably the equivalent of 1 cube a day but split in half and fed twice daily. I also sometimes feed corals after lights out.

I also keep alternate light schedules with my frag tank to limit pH swings.
