LiveAquaria sells AlgaGen and there are many LFS that probably do as well. Its not cheap but its alive always.

If they're alive you shouldn't have to shake the container to see something. Pods are resilient so 40 degrees might be alright. I have seen bottles of tiger pods sold out of a fridge. Which vendor? The last time I ordered pods I went with Algae Barn. I've also ordered from http://myreeftoyours.com/index.php?cPath=6&osCsid=di1v6gr3l0crcm0dq4oblg7jb4 with good results.

No doubt they are dead if not swimming, moving or attatched to the side of container. I also bought mine from Petland out of a fridge. Also cultured my own using phytoplankton.

I never understood pods and what they’re for. Are they more food food for fish or cleanup crew?

Maybe 2 cups or water with phytoplankton incl. Thousands of pods though. Any they reproduce in a reef environment

Pretty safe to say the only $8 pods for thousands are tiger pods and there microscopic

Large red copepods, Tigriopus Califoricus (250-1700 microns), that make the perfect food for mandarin gobies and pipefish, or other finicky saltwater fish. They breed quickly and continually multiply when placed in your refugium or a separate system. Since they are able to thrive in your refugium with no threat of predators, they are constantly increasing and can continually be added to your tank for food. Copepods are most active at room temperature and can be refrigerated for prolonged use. 6 oz bottle.
* Refrigerated food ships in a separate order from other products via 2nd Day Air for $19.99.

Sounds about right.

Dave always has a culture going and they are fresh, always active, and at room temp so getting them into a reef environment is simple.. float for a few minutes and release.

They are easy to tell the difference between a baby and an adult as well is one is female and carrying eggs.

Definitely worth trying for $8 and no shipping..
