Best sand

I'm setting up another tank and wanted opinions on which sand is best.

I like anything aragonite based and not too fine.

i think Carib Sea Special Grade Sand is whats in mine .. love it

The best sand is a mix of sand.

Some will argue for bare bottom, but personally, I like the look of a sand bed and don't subscribe to the ULNS theory. In my tank, I have:

40 Pounds CaribSea SeaFlor Special Grade Reef Sand
30 Pounds CaribSea Aragamax Oolite Sand
15 Pounds CaribSea Aruba Puka Shell

75 pounds of total sand, nothing gets blown around, there's a bit of visible crushed shell, and the sand holds together for my pistol shrimp to build its burrow.

[Reef City]

We have tried a lot of different grades of sand in the store by Carib-Sea. So far the Reef sand or Fiji Pink is my preference. Fiji Pink is a bit finer particle, but not nearly as small as the Oolite sand.

I'm going with a faux sand bed so I can have the look but not worry about it blowing around everywhere. I'm still debating, but I think I'm going with black tahitian moon sand. The stuff sparkles like crazy under halides/LEDs.
