best way to cycle a new tank

What is everyones opinion on the best way to cycle a new 150 gallon tank with 50 gallon sump?
all new dry sand. all dry reef rock. all new salt water.

How long to cylce tank for?

What are your ideas?
 
Your cycle will usually take around a month or after a few algea blooms and all your parameters balace out. I am younger but run my tanks old school no chemicals to start just a little live sand a little live ro.ck to seed everything and let time do the rest.
 
Ground up raw shrimp. Water change after the ammonia spike and you're ready to add a little livestock.
 
I don't believe "Tanked" ever cycles their tanks. At least they never mention anything about that.

Biospiora will instantly cycle a SW tank.
 
with a tank that big, I would cycle the rocks in a smaller container. Save yourself a big water change once the cycle finishes. Move the rocks in the tank once they are cycled.
