Biocube as refugium

I was thinking on plumbing my 29 gallon biocube into my 65 gallon as a refugium. I would use a mj1200 and the stock bc pump, would this work? MJ1200 with tubing to biocube return, and the biocube to pump to flow water into sump.
 
The only way would be if you can get even pressure between the lines. Otherwise it will either drain out to fast or overflow. It would take some testing and playing with different combos. Cool idea....

Make one of those diy pvc overflows. The pumps will never match. Plus as they get dirtier they will really start to vary.

yeah drill it and make it overflow into you sump and pump into it. dont try and get two pumps to match up if im reading that right. you will have a problem at some point
 
I would do a manual drip to the back of the biocube and use the stock return line plumbed back wherever you want. Then gate valve the flow to wherever you need and adjust as things get encrusted or lose power. The only way todo it and be able to equalize the flow.

Alright i have the tanks side by side and ready to go, the problem is my mj1200 is not powerful causeing the bio cube to run dry. The hose is 6 ft from sump to bio cube, the pump is also running my media reactor, i was thinking of a mag 3 or mag 5. Any help on pump.
 
ya like a mag 3 or 5 or anything in same ballpark of gph/head, use a valve so you can dial in the flow
only restrict the output side of the pump not the intake
 
Good to see you got it going James! +1 on the post above... You should get a pump that will allow you to dial back.
