Birdsnest and LED lights

Has any one had any luck keeping a birdsnest sps alive and well with LED lights? I have the Marineland Reef LED lights and would like add one to my tank. I have a nice shelf directly under the LEDs in the upper portion of the tank.

Thank you,
David

Marineland LEDs will struggle to keep SPS alive at best. They might not even be able to keep them alive. Sorry to be the one to tell you! :(

The marineland will be cutting it for softies... Don't put a sps under there, even if it is a birdsnest. Most likely just brown out or die.

If u do get a decent LED fixture, they will keep them alive no problem

I was wondering the same thing! I was going to give it a shot with my two Panorama Pros...Some LFS have them with this setup and the birdsnests look good.

I have AI sol blues over my 100g tank. Green birdsnedt doing great, as are all other sps. The only one not liking my sol blues is my Wellso brain

Probably too strong on the wellso! haha. My buddy has one over his 29gal and everything grows like crazy!

i have two Apollo LEDs over my 90 and all my SPS are doing great! I even have a ORA Pearlberry about halfway down and it looks beautiful! I run mine at 65% with a neptune Apex Jr.

I have three ai sols over my 90 gallon...pink birdsnest that is not pink and not brown but in between. Placed in upper half of tank....new growth kind of looks more pinkish to me...too early to tell however as its only been in there about 2 months and think it is still adjusting

Birdsnest are the least demanding sps, but still needs decent liking... I have three of em and they love my LEDs. Awesome growth. Water quality can be so so, but you should achieve the best you can afford. I reccoment adding some supplement LEDs. Marineland LEDs are not suitable for reef. You will likely loose color on most corals over time. The BN is just the start. Colored stick are fun to watch grow.
What size tank are you running?
