Black Sand - Stupid Questions

First I would recommend we make a "Stupid Question" section. These are ones we should know or think we might know.


Black Sand
How big of a mess does it make of your water out of the bag? How long to settle? Will black silt get all over everything?

I used in fuge one time . The brand i dont recall but omg did it stink but fuge loved it. There was no black residue or anything . Didnt turn water black and looks cool
 
I've used black in the past and I do like the way the colors of others things pop out. It's the same rinsing instructions as regular sand; same silt properties too.
 
i used black in my dsb and i noticed it was less cloudy, but it did look a little like when you rinse carbon right around it. A magnet suspended in the column will actually help remove some of that since a lot of black sand it ferrous. Why don't you just paint the bottom black? Oh, and "the only stupid question is the one left unasked" so, no section for that. :)
