If this happens again while we're on vacation it could be an expensive loss

Is the only option 'whole house generator with automatic switch'? That would cost more than I have in the tank!

Yuo can have battery backups for your powerheads and that'll get you buy for a while, but you'll still need to worry about heating/chilling dependig on the season.

Unfortunately yes; that is the best option. The switch over usually takes like ten seconds.

A couple benefits of the whole house generator is that you can still power your sump pumps in the basement to keep it dry and also keep your refrigerator running.

I've got the ecotech battery back up to support 36hrs of water movement, but that's it

Today's outage was only 90min, so minimal impact...but it puts doubt in my mind the stability when not in town!
