This deeply saddens me. FML.

I have heard that emeralds love the stuff. they sometimes even starve to death once they eat all the BA. I have seen tiny buds on new frags in my tank, but my emerald always takes it out immediately.

Best solution is good salt, good water (RODI), and lights in proper time spans, and good filtration. I had hair algae, but after I started making sure my fuge was running properly and working to its potential and whatnot, eventually it went away, and my sump macro was growing by leaps and bounds. Most of the time we have our tanks set up and running before we have a fuge established, and then the powerful tank lights make the display tank act as a fuge instead. Run your fuge light 24/7 for a few days and then reduce DT light at the same time, you'll see it turn around.

Emerald crabs are known for eradicating bubble algae...I have two in my tank(no bubble algae tho), but they eat every other type of algae too. Good luck and whatever you do, don't pop a bubble in your tank...it'll only spread.

i also heard that emarald crabs also spread those bubbles cause they pick at them and might break the bubbles ?? and also that they might go rougue and attack other inverts ?

i want a crab that eats bubble algae too

You can manually remove them but be gentle. If they're big enough to grasp you can twist them they'll come off at the base. If you can remove the rock and do this outside the tank you wouldn't have to worry as much about the bubbles popping. You might try feeding less; excess nutrients in the water usually causes bubble algae ( and hair algae).Emerald crabs work too but then it's an endless cycle with the crabs popping the bubbles when they eat them and spores being released into the tank.

Emeralds work great. You just have to watch them a little. There is some that will turn on coral or inverts. I've experienced it myself.

Emerald crabs are potentially dangerous. They can go rogue very often. Happened to me as well. Had emeralds for hair algae and bubble, but then he started picking at my nem and xenia.

Every now and then i notice a few in my tank also, When I do my water change i suck them up with the hose. I'v heard crabs pop them and it spreads.

Emeralds have been nothing but the best for me . I've had them in two past reef tanks and in the present one . They have never bothered any of the coral and they always eat the bubble till its gone . Remember they are scavengers and will also feed on uneaten meaty foods and many types of nuisance algae once the bubble is gone.
