So I have been buying kits from Steve @ http://www.windridercreations.com/aqua-filters for some time now.

This build is customized off the 24" x 12" x 15" sump kit cut down to fit Marineland 27G cube tank and stand.

Steve made the kit 17" x 12" x 14"

Kit comes boxed looks like this when you take out the pieces

I had laid out the bottom for my skimmer and pump

start with the front piece and the one end. I planned out which end to start with so I could used the jig as much as possible.

Make sure the bottom edge is flush, this will mate up to the bottom and so must be flush

Pins are used between side and front to allow solvent to fully enter the seam

After wicking solvent into the crack we wait 60 seconds for solvent softens acrylic and then pull the pins, you should get clean seam.

Allow this to set ~ 15 minutes and you can move to next panel, this is the first part of the bubble trap.

Follow same steps and use the solvent to glue this seam too

Next I use 1/2" balsa wood to space the second baffle from the first. Again bottom edge must be flush where it will mate to the bottom.

again let it all set and move on to next baffle

Finally you can complete the other end

I let this dry for good 30 minutes with some weight on the top

Next you put down the back and carefully turn the unit over and line up the panels to glue to back. Same process with pins, wait 60 seconds, pull pins, make sure the one edge is flush to meet with bottom.

Again put some weight and let it cure a good 30 minutes.

Now prep the bottom, note pins on all 4 sides

now all 4 sides get solvent, 60 seconds wait, and then pull the pins. add weight to top to set the seams

Again let this sit for good 30 minutes, overnight if you can. you can the weights and handle the unit now. Wait full 24 hours for cure, then water test. Mine is drying so more tomorrow

Will, I have to say that you definitely have a talent for building sumps! It looks really good!
