Can you use a swimming pool pump?

So I was doing some cleaning and realized that I have a swimming pool pump in the garage. Does anyone know if this can be used for an aquarium??? It's a 1hp that's rated 3600gph. If i drilled the floor and had it setup in the basement would it work? I have a 125gal mixed reef setup right now but I figured with all that flow I could probably have the pump run the water not only to the main tank but also a frag tank and maybe a tub of live rock.

Let me know if anyone has tried this.

as long as its new, sure why not? I wouldn't trust it if it's been used leaching pool chemicals.

Not always. Many pumps in that industry are fresh/salt specific, but you can look up whatg pump you have to see if its rated for saltwater.

I actually just found something on Reef Central about it and there were a lot of mixed reviews. Maybe I'll just sell it on Craigslist.

Just find the maker. They will list whether or not it can be used in saltwater situations. You just need to make sure its rated for it, and it's fine.
