Center brace

Hey guys so I just want to get some of your guys opinion on my tank. So I have a 65g tank and at the top there is a plastic center brace for the lid what do you guys think about cutting that part out. Reason I was thinking is I don't want to have a shade spot in the tank where the light would be blocking it.

I'm doing this to a 90 gallon I have. But I am also making it a sump so it will not be full and also I am adding 2 braces at the 1/3 points of the tank. I need to remove the center brace to make room for a tall skimmer.

Ok thanks for all the advise guys. One more thing what kind of sand is everyone using I mean like brand I usually use Carib sea. So for the new tank wanted to try something different
