Chaeto

My tank has been up and running now for a few months , I added a tennis ball size of chaeto a few months ago , I've noticed that it has seemed to have gotten a lot smaller ? It is very soft to the touch and getting really " thin " my nitrates are at zero and all other parameters check good ?

What would cause this ?

Need a good light..Lowel has compact light 6500K it's good for cheato..I used it and have good grow..

Can be light but also can be u have no food in tank for it being tank is so new. U gotta be careful to cause when algae dies it mucks up u water quality

My fuge light is on for 11 hours now , on at 11:00 pm and off at 9:00 , it's a 125w cf bulb and I would think it's well more than enough to grow chaeto ? I did move it up in the beginning because I was getting brown algae so I moved it up , I don't have a heavy bio load and don't over feed so maybe my water is " too clean " ??

+1 to a 6500k bulb - sometimes it's all about the right spectrum -as mentioned you can get a 6500k bulb and clip on dome reflector for cheap at lowes
