Cheapest place for sand (doesn't need to be fancy) and crushed coral

Hey all,

Ran out of sand/cc to make my DIY reef rock. I tried oyster shells like some have said, but it came out all wrong, so I'm going back with what I know.

Last time I just picked up some stuff from Petsmart cause I was just trying things out, but now that I know how awesome this stuff is, and how fast it cures (3 weeks with water changes every few days!! Shorter when the pieces fit in the top tank of the toilet!! LOL), it's time for more, but wanted input for the cheapest place for sand/cc.

Any suggestions?

I've been wanting to make my own rock for awhile. Was there a certain site that you got the directions from?

I kinda mixed info together and came up with this:

3:2:1 of aggregate:salt:concrete

Mix the concrete and aggregate, then slowly add water until the mixture is soupy. Then add rock salt and stir vigorously quickly, and then pour. Don't add water after the salt, it'll melt prematurely.

Finding the right balance is practice more than anything else. Start small until you get it.

I would say somewhere between 10 and 20 lbs but but it could be more.

I'll weigh it tomorrow and see how much it is.

It's 20 lbs, thought I had more but I must of got rid of more than I thought.

If you still want it it's yours.
