Clams

My wife loves the Maxima clam in my Uncle's tank so I think I am going to get a clam as well.

I believe I have enough lighting in my Biocube 29 but is there enough room? What are some smaller clams? I only have soft corals right now so will I need to add calcium?

check out aqua pros in glen ellyn. I got a super small clam from him and he sells them for a great price..

Heres a picture of the clam i got from aqua pros

suggestion .. if you keep showing your uncles maidia tank to your wife, you would go bankrupt very soon :P well unless you inherit his corals

Clams are nice but are equally sensitive i think so do your due research before you get one :)

Good luck

Crocea max 6 inches and maxima max 7-12 inches are the smallest of the tridacnas. I just bought a maxima last saturday. People who come over ask if they produce pearls, and I would say no, these are not oysters. But I just found out I was wrong they do make there own kind of pearl. Old town has a few, new fish has a few, and even the petco on north and clybourn has a nice one.

I picked up a nice clam from aquapros last weekend. It's very nice but it doesn't like where I'm placing it. It either is moving or the turbo snail is moving it.

How long does it usually take for a clam to attach itself to a rock if it likes the location? My guy won't attach and I want to move him to higher spot on the tank.

It depends on whether the clam likes the spot or not. If a maxima isn't happy with the spot its in it will never attach.

I think he finally decided to attach to the rock I put him on. I'll let him solidify his position and then move him higher up for more light. I just added another stunner LED strip so I think all the corals will be happier.

How big is it? Curious because you were looking for something small.
