Its definitely an acropora. All acropora are defined by having axial corallites, which this coral does. If the coral only had radial corallites, it would likely be an anacropora.
Hard to tell by growth right now, but it is likely a. granulosa, a maryae, or a. lokani.
 
looks more like a smooth carolina to me, almost impossible to make a positive id without examining the skeletal structure with a microscope (dead coral) and even then it can be tricky to be positive on an id.

ur right..it does look similar to carolina
