I made a comment on their thread but i know that's not the place for discussion so im making this post in the correct section. I would like to first start out by saying i do shop at coral reef and continue to shop. I know pufferpunk will say otherwise but i have been there 2 days before a sale and a fish was priced at $100, when i went on the day of the sale this same fish was now priced at $150, couple days after sale fish was still there and now back down to $100. Im not trying to throw dirt im just describing my experience. Also over the last year i would say prices continue to go up here, its a joke for people to say they have some of the lowest prices around. This used to be the case a few years back, nowadays they are about even with most other stores and overpriced on some fish. I still like the selection they bring in and overall the fish seem healthier so i dont mind the higher prices. I just like to call apples apples. I buy fish here because i dont see the same one at other stores or they have the right size im looking for, they are improving the coral selection for sure and have expanded the dry goods section. Again this is not to bash someone, just stating my experience.

I do know their quality of corals & fish have gone up tremendously, since Wojeck has been working there. That could be the reason their prices have gone up a bit. I still feel I'm getting a god deal there, although I don't shop very often in other shops. Mostly because they're so close to my home.

I've personally never seen them do that, I've been shopping there forever. In fact on many occasions I've taken the chance and waited for the sale to save the money.
If you compare them to the closest stores LSA and Ocean design, they are the cheapest in town on everyday pricing.

I've been there 3 times since I got in the hobby. The first time I left empty handed because I was totally ignored while I was there. No one spoke or looked at me. The second time I went, it was during one of their huge sales. When I got there, the sale prices were retail or higher. Third trip was only because I was in the area and someone told me they had orange dendros. Again, I left emptyhanded. I only looked at livestock so I have no idea if dry goods provided substantial savings, but I have heard they do.

I won't go back.

+1, I've also waited for their sales on fish/corals I had been eyeballing.

Have been going there about once a month when I visit with my daughter for the last two years. I like them since they usually have a good selection of livestock and corals, and are close. I have bought dry goods and livestock there. I was there last week and looking at cuc and noticed prices seemed higher than usual. I believe they were selling emerald crabs for 9. I bought them over last summer there for like 6. I will still go there but look more carefully at the prices.

There are a lot of stores that do the "huge sale" price thing. 10 years ago when I worked at guitar center and they would have their "blowout sales" we would go around and throw a sale price label on let's say guitar strings, regular price 8.99, sale price 8.99 lol!

I haven't really payed attention to the fish prices at CR though, partially because they're a bit high on their livestock. The dry goods are priced very reasonably though. If they had something I wanted I would pay for it. But the price changing thing however, wouldn't surprise me at all.
