covering over flow

I need to cover my overflow as I have a algea bloom going on in it. I guess maybe not a bloom as its been there for awhile. I'm thinking some type of cover but I'm limited to supporting it. Any ideas? Its a 75g offset from the leftside.

Good idea.

I actually have quite a bit of growth in my overflow too. It has always been open. Due to the water flowing through and down the standpipe, I also seem to get a bit of salt creep up there too. I wonder if Marineland makes one standard. Also concerned that the breather tube of the durso needs to extend up and above the cap. Wouldn't it?

I have about 4 inches deep of caulerpa growing in mine. I harvest it every so often and feed it to my herbivours, they love that stuff.

I have seen it done two ways. Some have used tin foil, another way would be to cut black acrylic to make a cover.

yes i think I'll take a piece of acrylic and shape it to fit and I have to drill a hole to let the air cap come through it. I'll make it a little small so the cap will support it on that side. Paint it black, done.. I'm a genius....

what paint did ypu use thats reef safe i need to paint some fittings that are bothering me would also like to paint acrylic for my overflow
