Well i went to Aquapros yesterday and picked up a frag tank. I also picked up a stand for 40 bucks on craigslist. Still quite a few things i need to pick up before i am able to set it up and get it to start cycling. Wanted some thoughts on which way to go on a couple things, any ideas from those more experienced than me would be greatly appreciated.
.) First off I plan to keep the tank bare bottom, so i will need something in the sump for bio filter. Was thinking live rock but after reading some reviews on the MarinePure Ceramic Biomedia plate I am quite interested in hearing from someone that has experience using it, what are the advantages of that vs just live rock? Also should I use a sand bed in my fuge in the sump?
.) Tank is 48x18x12, what type of lighting should i use? I have led with t5 retrofit in my display tank. Should I try to match that? (mainly want to use frag tank for sps grow out)
.) Pros and Cons of going with fish in a frag tank or not?
.) Size of return pump? I have heard general rule of thumb is 10x? but with sps frag should i go to like 15x? also 2 RW 8s will be enough flow for tank?
