So i bought a place and move in mid september. I thought this would be a perfect time to switch over to the much desired rimless setup. I want to have everything ready by then so the switch is quick, planned, and easy. I just ordered the tank from Dave/AquaPros. GREAT PRICE. I know the tank has a 1" drain and 3/4" return so i will order the bulkheads today. I think the tank comes with a durso pipe, not sure if I'm going to use it yet but thats a quick trip to Home Depot if i don't. I also ordered the stand for it.
Moving Process: (Feel free to comment and advice)
(I'm going from a 55g hex sps tank to 75g rimless)
With hopefully some help from Mike(450 mixed reef build)
1.) Complete the dry setup and new house/ start mixing water needed to fill larger tank
2.) Add just enough to sand to cover bottom (1/4")
3.) Drain old tank into 10x 5 Gallon buckets to use for the rocks with coral on them.
4.) Drain remaining water into 15G tube for fish and unattached frags on rack; About 7g Filled
5.) Drive quickly to new place and add water from buckets and rocks together.
6.) Let sand settle for a few moments and add fish and remaining water.
7.) Add water to compete extra gallons
8.) Turn on power heads, pumps, lights, ect.
Hopefully its this easy but I'm not getting my hopes up.
Any comments? Anyone have this tank and whats to chime in?
